Why Would He Listen To Me?
There are many reasons we listen to people and people listen to us.
· Obligation
· Social convention
· We need something from them
· Proximity
· It’s part of the job
· They have earned a certain level of respect
· They have information we need
Thankfully God’s list of why He listens to us has one primary reason.
Psalm 119:149a Hear my voice in accordance with your love…
God created us in His image. Those who believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior are His children. And He listens to our prayers in accordance with His love.
It’s not because of anything we offer or anything we’ve done to ‘earn it’. That is wonderful news to someone who can compare himself negatively to spiritual giants. If it were up to me, I’d listen to D.A. Carson and Greg Pruett more than I’d listen to me because of all they’ve accomplished for the Kingdom and even more, because I’ve heard them pray and I’ve heard me pray.
But that isn’t how God decides who to listen to. Psalm 119:149 tells me God listens out of His love, not my perceived value of myself or my prayers.
It’s also wonderful to know that God listens out of His love instead of ignoring me based on my sin.
If you’re like me, you want 2024 to be the year you ignite your prayer life. May God use Psalm 119:149a to remind you that His love for you means that He is always listening and always available.
