Drifting Into Good Things…
For years I’ve told anyone who would listen that you can’t drift into anything good. You can’t drift into good decisions. You can’t drift into a close relationship with Christ.
But what if we can drift into good things…
Recently I took a 6 hour court-ordered defensive driving class because I was going 21 MPH over the speed limit and the instructor made a statement that made me think I’ve been incorrect about drifting always be a negative thing.
During the class, the instructor said that when you’re driving, you drift toward what you’re looking at so we better be very careful about what we’re looking at.
Thankfully the instructor didn’t ask me a question right after that because I camped out on that thought for several minutes.
“You drift toward what you’re looking at so be very careful about what you’re looking at.”
In other words, drifting can be good as long as what I’m looking at is where I want to go.
I love that! Think about it this way…if you’re reading the Bible and spending time with God in the morning, that can help you drift toward Him all day.
If you’re taking a few minutes during the day to look to God in prayer, that will help us drift toward God even when we aren’t in prayer later.
So if you are one of those people that I boldly, unapologetically and incorrectly told that you couldn’t drift into anything good, I meekly and apologetically ask you to forgive me.
Thank you for your patience with me.
May you drift into many good things this week as you look at the right things!
